We had a very successful morning cleaning up our community to help the Sustainable Coastlines initiative.  Well done on all your hard work Room 7!

Sustainable Coastlines at Owairaka...

 We had a really interesting talk about plastic in our ocean today.  We learnt the effect it has on our marine environment and what we can do to help.

Swimming Week 8

 Room 7 will be swimming Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday this week.

(Year 6 students will not be swimming on Wednesday as they will be on a trip.)

There will also be optional Kauri Swims at break time on Tuesday and Thursday.

Self-portraits in the style of Amedeo Modigliani

 We have been working on our self-portraits for the last week.  We looked at the Italian artist Amedeo Modigliani and took ideas from the way he worked for our own portraits.  He often drew faces longer than they would normally look.  He also placed eyes higher on the face and mouths lower on the face.  We hope you enjoy looking at our artworks.

 Room 7 will have swimming on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday this week.

There will also be optional Kauri Swimming during Lunch Break on Tuesday and Thursday.

Please bring a note if you are unable to swim.

Water Safety Wednesday

 Today Room 7 learnt all about different swimming strokes that can keep us safe in the water.

Water safety with a life jacket

 Today was life jacket day in the pool.  Room 7 learnt all about how life jackets can keep us safe in the water.  They also got to practice safety drills to help prepare of a water emergency.

Our school is going to get four new hens shortly after lockdown... we need you to put your thinking caps on and suggest names for them.

Giant ladybird sighted in my garden!

One of our Home Learning tasks asks us to imagine meeting an insect.  I LOVE ladybirds and think it wouldn't be too scary meeting one this big.

I used removeit to make this image.  It was hard to make it look like I was sitting on the branch.
