This is the last learning I will post on the blog for 2021. 

Thank you for being such an amazing class. Throughout all the challenges this year has brought you have remained thoughtful, calm and creative. We have all learnt so much.

Home Learning Monday, Week 9

Our recent school closure was not the end of the year we would have wished for but I am glad many of us got to spend the last few weeks reconnecting and settling back into school routines. 

We will be having a Google Meet today at 11.00am to say our farewells. I will send you the link just before 11.00am.

Online and classroom learning

Take a look at the amazing art students have created since returning to school. Our classroom is looking more beautiful by the day!



There will be a Google Meet for all of Room 7 on Wednesday at 11.00 - 11.30am. I will email a link to students both at school and those learning from home and we will share some online learning time together.

There will also be two further Google Meets for those students learning from home. They will be on Monday and Thursday at 11am. These meets will be run by Jo Green and Phil Margetts. A link to these meets will also be sent to students' emails.

Term 4 Home Learning Friday, Week 4

 We are going to look at narrative writing today during our meet.

You are going to write a fantasy narrative (that means it is not a true story). 

Your protagonist (hero) is your chosen Bird (or Bat) of the Year.

The setting is your chosen bird’s (or bat’s) natural environment.

Apart from that, your story can be about anything!

Remember to try to think of something that would happen in the environment your bird (or bat) lives in.

Welcome to Tokelau Language Week 2021

Remember to take your time to make a thorough and in-depth presentation of your findings. Detail is key. You don't want your audience to be left wondering!!

You also need to put this information into your own words.  Doing this will show us what you have learned.


Remember to keep practising your Times Tables. Check our Class Site for the steps you can take to memorise your chosen Times Table.

Home Learning Week 8, Rāhina

 Kia ora! ​Kei te pehea koe? This week is Te Wiki o te Reo Māori - Māori Language Week.

The Theme is - Kia Kaha te Reo Maori - Let’s make the Maori language strong. We will be learning new Māori words and continuing to use those we already know.

Students have been making their own models of the different maunga.  

Students, can you see your model?  

Challenge: Take a screenshot of your model and create a blog post about what you have been learning during our Oral Language sessions.  You could also make more models of the maunga at home. Can you make all 7 mountains?

Student Success Week 10

 The last week of Term 2 has flashed by.... but we have still had time to celebrate student success.

Two of our classmates were selected to run at the interschool Cross Country competition, where they both placed in the top 10! An amazing result.





Even though it is the last week of term we have been working hard on our learning and we celebrate the extra effort of these students.

Matariki Stars, Stories and Stargazing

 Come and check out the new stars of our classroom....



Remember Owairaka School has invited families to join staff for a hikoi up our maunga to view the Matariki stars. We will meet in the car park on Summit Drive at 5.45am on Friday 25 June. There will be a karakia at the car park entrance before walking clockwise around the maunga until we can look east over towards the Sky Tower and hopefully spot the stars!
