Talofa lava room 7, My name is Manogi from room 23 the cooking method in New Zealand similar to an Umu, is called a Hangi.I am a Tongan but alot of our food are similiar to Samoan food like having an Umu. We had an Umu at our church,I was with my family, We all ate Umu I had a small plate of cooked pig and some taro.It was amazing.

  3. Talofa lava, room 7, my name is Titan from Room 23. The cooking method that is similar to Umu is Hāngi. If I did get to eat a Samoan dish/food it would be Kopai because it looks so tasty and delicious. If you don't know what Kopai is a sweet desert dumpling.

  7. Talofa lava Room 7. My name is Stephen from Room 23. The cooking method in new Zealand is similar to an Umu, but called a Hangi. I am from the Cookislands but I have been to Samoa once and this is the food that I ate sweet dessert Dumpling they where the yummiest food I ate. They made it look like this

  8. Talofa lave I have had some Samoan food before but only like one thing I forgot what it was well it was 2 years ago so that was a long time my mum does some times make Samoan food she makes the best food

    its me Rose! The cooking method for new Zealand similar to a umu is a Hangi.
    I have not tried a umu yet but I am half Samoan half Tongan. some of the Tongan food is so simalr to the Samoan food that I have tried are Taro and pig.
    When I had it for the first time it was Brilliant!

  14. hello! Niamh from room 7 here! I have had Samoan food before, it is called a coconut! sadly, I have never been to Samoa, but I have been to Tonga! the thing similar to a umu is a hangi. have you ever been to Samoa?

    The cooking method that is similar to Umu is Hangi- cooking food on rocks underground.I remember at garden to table we had Samoan food but no Hangi. I remember that there was Taro in one of the dishes. I have once tried Hangi from a market. It was DELICIOUS!

  16. Hi my name is Matilda from Room 7.
    The food like umu in New Zealand is Hangi which is made by digging a whole in the ground then heating rocks and putting baskets of food into the hole. I have tried hangi before and it was delicious. I especially liked the meat because it was smokey and tender. I had it with my family at a farm that we were staying at. Here is a link link.

  17. Kia Ora, my name is Lila and I am from Owairaka District School. An umu is like a hangi, but a haungi is from New Zealand and a umu is from Samoa! I have tryed this type of rice before with chocolate, and we ate it at garden to table, It tasted really good and I loved it!

I also know how it's done it's that you actually cook it underground and I definitly know what that means so don't ask me.You cook it on some hot rocks and I don't know what's next eat it I guess?
