Our Film Festival Entry 2022 - Escape From Class!

Room 23's fabulous finished Film Festival films

Here are some of the fabulous films Room 23 created for the Ako Hiko Film Festival.

Students put a lot work into making these including:

forming groups, writing screenplays, drawing cartoons, creating animations, filming, acting, recording voice overs and finally editing all this raw material into the final versions you see here.

A couple of the films take a bit of time to load, but if you click on the arrow to open in a new window they will play straight away.

Take a look, we hope you enjoy!

Tivaevae visit during Cook Island Language Week

Mei taki to McKenzye's mum Haley for bringing her family heirloom tivaevae in to show us. It was amazing to see the beautiful stitching and to learn about why and how the tivaevae are made.

We noticed how the patterns used lots of natural shapes and that they were also symmetrical. Can you see where the symmetry lines are in the design?
Thank you for also sharing a traditional dance with us. The movements were so graceful to watch.

Olympian Visit!

Kauri Team was super lucky to receive a visit from Anna Wilcox this week. She competed at the Winter Olympics in Russia in 2014. Anna told us that she tried many different sports before she found the sport that truely suited her; she encouraged us all to do the same. Anna also talked about the attitudes that help make an Olympian great.

Anna asked us to guess what was in her ski bag... check out the answer below.

Do you think Anna has learnt to face challenges with resilience and persistence?
